This Privacy Policy explains, in plain English, how NavQuest Interactive Limited (“NavQuest”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects and uses information when you visit our site or play any NavQuest game. It sits alongside our Terms & Conditions. Questions? Email support@navquest.fun.
The short version
We collect the minimum needed to run the game. We never sell your data. Challenge photos are temporary. Analytics and marketing cookies are opt-in. You can change your cookie choices at any time.
1. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use NavQuest, we may collect:
- Name (where you choose to provide it)
- Email address
- Account details (for lifetime access)
- Payment records (receipts and transaction references — not full card details)
- Promo code redemptions and verified zero-value payment records where a promo grants free access
- Game sessions, team names and gameplay progress
- Leaderboard information
- Marker reports and feedback you submit
- Uploaded challenge photos
- Language preferences
- Device and browser information where required for operation
- Approximate or precise location while you are actively playing
- For team captains during an active session, the captain device’s latest approximate latitude and longitude, an update time, a general accuracy indication where applicable, and the session it relates to
2. How We Use Information
- Provide access to the game and your purchases
- Process payments and issue receipts
- Restore lifetime access on your account
- Support gameplay functionality (sessions, scoring, leaderboards)
- Determine whether players are near challenge markers and support GPS-based gameplay
- Show the captain’s latest approximate location to invited Watch Mode spectators during an active session
- Diagnose location-related and other technical issues
- Investigate marker issues and player reports
- Improve NavQuest based on usage and feedback
- Prevent misuse, cheating or fraud
- Communicate with you where necessary (e.g. support, service messages)
The legal bases we rely on include performance of our contract with you (for gameplay, purchases and uploads), our legitimate interests (security, diagnostics and product improvement), your consent (for optional analytics, marketing cookies, and any optional promotional use of photos) and compliance with legal obligations (for example, financial records).
3. Watch Mode & captain location sharing
Some game modes allow a team captain to create a Watch Mode link or code so invited spectators can follow the team’s progress. People who receive a valid code or link may see the team name, score, progress, current challenge, activity and the captain’s latest approximate location.
The captain controls who receives the code or link, but we cannot control onward sharing by a recipient. Spectators have read-only access and are not given gameplay control.
The captain’s location is taken from the captain’s gameplay device and is rounded before being shared. It is shared only while the relevant session and Watch Mode access are active. A movement history or route trail is not intentionally stored for Watch Mode — only the latest known position for the active session is retained so it can be shown on the live map.
Access controls. Watch Mode access is controlled by a valid code or link. Codes can expire or be revoked. Invalid, expired or revoked codes cannot retrieve the Watch Mode data, and captain location is not exposed through a generally public player directory.
4. Challenge Photos
Photos may be uploaded as optional team content, as evidence required to complete a photo challenge, for post-game viewing and downloads, and for support or moderation. We distinguish between operational use needed to deliver the game and any optional promotional use, which only happens where the relevant permission or consent has been obtained.
Challenge photos are not publicly displayed by NavQuest and are not shared on social media by us. They are stored securely for approximately 30 days after your adventure — during that window you can view them in-game, download them to your device or request an emailed download link. After that period they are automatically deleted from our servers, and any download links stop working.
Please avoid uploading sensitive personal information or images of people who have not consented to appear.
5. Analytics
NavQuest may use analytics tools to understand game usage, player behaviour, performance and technical issues. Analytics only run if you have granted the Analytics cookie category — otherwise no analytics scripts are loaded.
We also use first-party acquisition tracking to understand which of our own promotional links, flyers, QR codes and partner channels bring people to NavQuest. When you arrive via one of our short links (for example navquest.fun/je) we set a first-party cookie that lasts up to 30 days so we can attribute any resulting sign-up or purchase to that source. This uses a pseudonymous visitor identifier only — we do not share it with third-party ad networks and it is not used to track you across other websites.
6. Marketing
NavQuest may use advertising and remarketing technologies in future to help more players discover the game. Marketing pixels only load if you have granted the Marketing cookie category.
Marketing emails are optional and only sent if you actively opt in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email.
8. Retention
Different types of information are kept for different periods:
- Challenge photos: stored for approximately 30 days after your adventure, then automatically deleted.
- Captain location for Watch Mode: only the latest known position is retained for the active session. Detailed route history is not stored. Once the session has ended or Watch Mode access has been revoked or expired, the location is no longer made available to spectators.
- Watch Mode codes: retained while valid; expired or revoked codes cannot retrieve Watch Mode data.
- Session and activity data: retained to support gameplay continuity, leaderboards and support enquiries.
- Payment records: retained as required for financial and legal record-keeping.
- Feedback and marker reports: retained so we can respond and improve the game.
Where a record must be kept for legal or operational reasons after a session ends, we limit how it is used and no longer expose it through gameplay or Watch Mode.
10. Your Rights
You have standard rights under Jersey data-protection law over your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your information. To exercise these rights, email support@navquest.fun.
11. Children
NavQuest is intended for players aged 16 and over. Younger players are welcome to take part but should be supervised by a parent, guardian or responsible adult who has agreed to our Terms on their behalf.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The version shown above is always the current one.
