Welcome to NavQuest. These Terms cover how you use our games, what you pay for, how we handle your data, and the safety basics every player needs to know. By purchasing or playing any NavQuest game, you and every member of your team agree to these Terms. Safety & Sensible Play Outdoors
NavQuest is an outdoor GPS adventure played in real public spaces. Outdoor gameplay involves inherent risks, and players are responsible for making sensible decisions and following the safety rules below. Gameplay requires GPS / location services and may require a working internet connection.
- Always follow the Highway Code and obey all road signs and crossings.
- Do not use the game while driving.
- Take care near roads, cliffs, coastlines, tides and water.
- Stay aware of traffic, weather and other hazards.
- Adults are responsible for supervising any children in their team.
- Stay in public areas — do not trespass or enter private property in pursuit of a challenge.
- Choose routes appropriate to weather, ability and conditions.
- If a challenge ever feels unsafe, skip it — no coins are worth an injury.
- Respect memorials, cemeteries and other sensitive locations at all times.
- Obey local laws and the rights of property owners wherever you play.
Our liability is limited as set out in section 15 below. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
1. About the game
NavQuest is a location-based game played in real public spaces. Players visit real-world points of interest and complete challenges, which may include quiz questions, finding or identifying features, counting visible objects, following directional clues and taking photographs. Successful challenges earn coins (an in-game scoring mechanic) which count towards team scores and leaderboards. Game modes include Leaderboard Challenge, Live Team Battle, Explore and Unlock NavQuest (lifetime access). Each mode has its own duration, pricing and rules described at the point of purchase.
2. Eligibility & Under 16s
You must be 16 or over to purchase a game. Players under the age of 16 should participate under the supervision of a parent, guardian or responsible adult, who agrees to these Terms on their behalf and remains responsible for their safety and conduct throughout gameplay.
3. Purchase Terms
All payments are taken in pounds sterling (£) and processed securely via approved third-party payment providers. NavQuest does not store full card details. Your card statement will show the descriptor NAVQUEST.
Purchases are digital and grant immediate access to gameplay. Standard game purchases (Leaderboard Challenge, Live Team Battle, Explore) can be paid for and played without creating an account — account creation is optional.
Immediate digital access. By completing a purchase and choosing to start gameplay immediately, you agree that access to digital content is provided to you right away. Once gameplay access has been provided or gameplay has started, refunds are generally not available except where required by law or where a technical fault prevents access. If something goes wrong, please get in touch — we’ll always try to help.
Unlock NavQuest (lifetime access) requires creating a NavQuest account. Your account stores your progress, scores and entitlements so you can return at any time. Lifetime access is tied to the account it was purchased on and cannot be transferred.
4. Lifetime access
Unlock NavQuest gives you lifetime access to all current and future NavQuest locations, with one payment and no recurring fees. Lifetime access is delivered through your NavQuest account and includes your saved scores, progress and any new locations as they launch.
“Lifetime” means the lifetime of the service. “Lifetime access” refers to the lifetime of the NavQuest service, not the lifetime of any individual user. We aim to continue improving and expanding NavQuest, but we cannot guarantee that the service, every location, or every game mode will remain available indefinitely.
Future locations, routes and game modes may be added, changed, paused or removed at our discretion. Lifetime access includes future locations that we make available as part of the standard NavQuest service, but does not guarantee that any particular future location will be launched or maintained.
5. Accounts
Standard gameplay does not require an account. Lifetime access purchases create a persistent NavQuest account, which is used for access continuity, leaderboards, saved scores, future locations and gameplay continuity. Keep your login details secure — you’re responsible for activity on your account.
6. Coins
Coins are an in-game scoring mechanic. Coins have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash or prizes, and cannot be transferred between accounts or teams. Coin totals may be reset or adjusted where needed to preserve fair play or to correct technical issues.
7. GPS accuracy, connectivity & mobile data
GPS accuracy may vary based on device, environment, weather, and signal quality. NavQuest cannot guarantee precise location accuracy at all times. Some challenges may take a moment to register or may need to be retried if your device’s location signal is weak.
Mobile data and network charges
Jersey Treasure Hunt requires an internet connection and may use mobile data for GPS-based gameplay, maps, photo uploads, live updates, Watch Mode and other game features. Players are responsible for ensuring that their device has suitable connectivity and for checking the terms of their mobile data plan before playing.
Mobile network providers may impose data, roaming or out-of-plan charges, particularly where a player is visiting Jersey from another jurisdiction. NavQuest does not control these charges and is not responsible for fees imposed by a player’s mobile network provider.
Data usage may vary depending on the length of the session, the number and size of photographs uploaded, map usage, Watch Mode and other device or network factors.
8. Watch Mode and location sharing
Some game modes allow a team captain to create a Watch Mode link or code so that invited spectators can follow the team’s progress. Watch Mode may display information such as the team name, score, completed challenges, current challenge, activity and the captain device’s latest approximate location on a live map.
The captain is responsible for deciding who receives the Watch Mode link or code. Anyone with a valid link or code may be able to view the associated Watch Mode information until the code expires, is revoked or the session ends. Players should not share the link or code publicly unless they are comfortable with that information being viewed. Spectators have read-only access and cannot control gameplay.
Captain location is updated periodically rather than continuously and is rounded before being shared. It may be delayed, approximate or unavailable, and must not be relied upon for navigation, safety, emergency assistance or determining someone’s exact whereabouts. A movement history or route trail is not kept for Watch Mode.
Location sharing stops when the relevant session ends or Watch Mode access is revoked. A last-known position may remain visible briefly as part of the session display and is no longer made available once the session has ended or the code has expired or been revoked.
9. Challenge types & changing features
Challenges may take several forms, including quiz questions, photo tasks, finding or identifying a feature, counting visible objects, or following directional clues. Answers and instructions may rely on signs, objects or other features present at a location. These may occasionally change, become obscured or be unavailable. If a challenge cannot reasonably be completed, players should skip it and may report it to support so we can review it.
NavQuest may modify, remove, replace, relocate, or deactivate challenges at any time — for example to respond to safety, access, accuracy or content issues. We aim to keep the game working smoothly but cannot guarantee that any specific challenge will always be available. Scores may be corrected where there is technical error or abuse.
10. Fair play & conduct
Play in the spirit of the game. Do not cheat, spoof your GPS location, share answers publicly, harass other players or behave in any way that brings the game into disrepute. We reserve the right to remove offensive team names, moderate uploads, correct invalid scores, disqualify teams or close accounts that breach these rules.
11. Respect for property, places & the environment
Leave every location as you found it. Do not damage, deface, move or remove anything at any challenge location. Respect wildlife, residents, other visitors and sensitive places such as memorials, cemeteries and places of worship. Do not trespass or enter private property in pursuit of a challenge.
12. Photo challenges, photos & uploads
Some challenges require or allow players to upload a photograph. Where a photograph is required, successful upload and server confirmation may be necessary to complete the challenge and receive coins. Uploads can be affected by device connectivity, browser permissions and network availability — if an upload fails, the challenge may need to be retried.
Challenge photos are stored securely for approximately 30 days after your adventure so you can view them in-game, download them to your device or request an emailed download link. After that period they are automatically deleted from our servers. Photos are not publicly displayed by NavQuest and are not shared on social media by us.
By uploading a photo you confirm you have the right to do so and grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it for the purpose of running the game — for example, validating and scoring challenges, moderation, support, in-game galleries and download features. This licence is limited to operating, validating, moderating and supporting the game. We will not use your challenge photos for marketing or promotional purposes without your separate permission or consent.
Please avoid uploading sensitive personal information or images of people who have not consented to appear. Do not upload unlawful, offensive or infringing content — we may remove any upload at our discretion.
13. Explore session extensions
Where offered, Explore access may be extended for an additional period. An extension continues the existing session and preserves its score, unlocked markers, submissions and photos; it does not create a new game session. Pricing and availability of extensions are shown at the point of purchase.
14. Translations
Translations of these Terms, the game interface and challenge content are provided for convenience. The English version remains the governing version in the event of any discrepancy.
15. Privacy
Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. In short: we collect the minimum needed to run the game, we don’t sell your data, and analytics & marketing cookies are opt-in.
Cookies. We use essential cookies and similar technologies to run the site, and may use optional analytics or marketing cookies only where you have given consent. You can manage your cookie preferences at any time from our Privacy Policy page.
Your data rights. You can contact support@navquest.fun to request help with your account, access to your data, or correction or deletion of your information, subject to any legal or operational retention requirements.
16. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with the game is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant session. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version that applies to your game is the one published on the date of your purchase.
18. Preview & beta features
NavQuest may occasionally release preview or beta features. These may be changed, paused, reset or withdrawn while being tested. Features identified as beta should not be relied upon as permanently available, and any scores, leaderboards, routes or content associated with them may be adjusted as we improve the service. Your feedback genuinely helps shape the game.
